Gwinnett offers an exceptional array of utility providers of water, gas, and electricity that will work closely with your relocation team.
Electricity
As one of the few states in the nation that allows competition between its electric power suppliers, Georgia offers attractive utility rates. Additionally, the power transmission and distribution system throughout Gwinnett provides for ample supply, high reliability, and redundant service methods.
Natural Gas
The 1998 deregulation of the natural gas industry provides the opportunity to choose from among several approved suppliers. Additionally, the municipalities of Lawrenceville, Buford and Sugar Hill offer natural gas service.
Water and Sewage
Gwinnett County currently maintains the capacity to store more than 70 million gallons of water per day (MGPD) and to withdraw its permitted volume of 150 MGPD from Lake Lanier. The opening of the new Shoal Creek Filter Plant increases water production capacity from 150 to 225 MGPD, expandable to 300 MGPD. The county maintains nine wastewater treatment plants. With the expansion of the F. Wayne Hill Water Resources Center, Gwinnett’s sewage treatment capacity at this facility will increase to 60 MGPD, which will assist the county in meeting future water treatment and supply needs over the next 50 years.
Telecommunications
Gwinnett County is located in the largest toll-free telephone calling area in the U.S. All of Gwinnett County is wired for fiber optics, providing optimum flexibility and protection against service interruptions. There are many local and long distance service providers offering reliable, redundant service options. Multiple cellular service options are also available.
Waste Management
Most cities in Gwinnett provide garbage collection service within their respective city limits. Residents in other cities and in unincorporated Gwinnett County may select a company from a list of approved solid waste collection companies. The list of approved companies is available from Gwinnett Clean and Beautiful at 770-822-5186 or www.gwinnettcb.org.
